Giving Tree- November and December 2017 Each year our parish has a Giving Tree to benefit local families and charities. Last year almost 800 cards were put on the tree.
Volunteers will be needed for about 2 hours on Saturday, November 11 at 9:30 AM in Schellberg Hall to make the cards for this year's Giving Tree. We will be tracing the card shapes, cutting them out, adding labels, and attaching strings to hang the cards. The gifts will come back the weekend of December 9-10. Volunteers will be needed to receive and sort the gifts on Sunday, December 10. We will be working from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. You do not need to be available to help the whole time.
For more information or to volunteer, please call Donna Amundsen at 908-359-2004
The Giving Tree program is designed to bring Christmas joy to the needy while providing parishioners the opportunity to practice and promote Christian charity.
Each year on the weekend before Thanksgiving, a Christmas tree is placed in the gathering space. The tree is adorned with "ornament" cards bearing the details of a specific gift request. Requests are provided by several local charitable organizations including the Parish, Hillsborough Social Services, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, SHIP (the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program), the Center for Great Expectations, and Anderson House. Parishioners select a card from the tree, buy the item, and return it to the church by the date requested. Volunteers make the cards in early November and then sort, pack and deliver the gifts to the organizations on the designated date.
