Childrens Liturgy

Children's Liturgy

The Children's Liturgy is held every Sunday at the 10:30 am Mass. Children between the ages of 5 and 10 are invited to participate. Prior to the 10:30 am Mass a parent must register their child at the Children's Liturgy table in the Gathering Space upon entering the church. The child will write his/her name on a name tag and then proceed into Mass with their parents.

Just before the start of the Liturgy, participating children are called up to the altar where the Celebrant shares the topic of that week's Gospel with them. The children then follow the liturgists down to the meeting room below the Day Chapel. For 15-20 minutes, they learn about that week's Gospel at a level that is easily understood by them. Each child receives an age-appropriate Children's Worship Bulletin filled with activities that relate to that week's Gospel. Following the Creed and Prayers of the Faithful, the children are reunited with their parents at Mass. During the following week an email is sent to the child's parents reviewing the topic that was discussed during the Children's Liturgy; along with a coloring page for the child.

In addition to having the special liturgy for children between 5 and 10 years of age, babysitting is available for children between the ages of 1 to 4 during the 10:30 Mass (September through May). Parents wishing to avail themselves of babysitting for their young children should register them by 10:15 am in the Church gathering space. Several adults and teenagers watch and play with the children in the Music Room. Babysitting is available through the entire hour of Mass.
